The best photos of Folly dog ever!

Look, she is completely off the ground!

More shots of Folly, excited on the beach!

We had a lovely weekend with Ed, Kristen, Cora and Tallulah at their bach.  Very relaxing and in a stunning location.   The boys did a bit of fishing on the Saturday on the Tuki Tuki River but there were no trout to be seen.  We read books and enjoyed the sunshine at the bach; roaring fires in the evening and some very tasty cooking from the Eds.

A lost seal just outside the bach.

The sea mist rolling in in the afternoon.

The Wilsons on our walk.

Folly and Eduardo playing chasing sticks.

Training Folly to accept that the boot is her spot.

Ha ha, this is Dannervirke. They like to place strange things welcoming you to towns, some have huge carrots, or gun boots or a trout!

Late Autumn - hanging out in Eastbourne

Sun was shining and we had lunch at a cafe in Days Bay. Only 14'c but felt lovely and warm.  The pier you can see is where we catch the ferry to work.

We went for a walk that starts behind our house. Takes  1 1/4 hours and loops up into the hills and back down again.

This is one of the views over Eastbourne from the hill; you cannot see our house - it is over to the left but it shows the distance between the hills and the beach.

Folly and I having a rest.  Fair to say she didn't need it!

Over the other side of the hill stretches out to the Orongorongo Range in the Rimutakas. Nothing for miles and miles in that direction.  Map below shows these eastern hills.

This map shows where we live; parallel to Robinson's Bay, Muritai, and we live by the Mackenzie Track.

Yesterday I drove Eduardo over the hills to Wainuiomata which you can see at the top right of the map and dropped him and Folly off so they could trek over Mount Lowry and back to Eastbourne.  We met in the pub in Eastbourne so he could have well deserved pints, especially as he'd dropped Folly's lead halfway down one of the larger declines and had to climb back up to retrieve it!

Eastbourne!

We have left our wobbly north westerly facing house in Mount Victoria and moved across the harbour to Eastbourne.  We'll miss the proximity to restaurants, cafes, Moore Wilsons and being able to walk home but with Folly and bump we were doing less and less of that anyway and the priority for space and a quieter neighbourhood became more important.  We love Eastbourne!  It is pretty quaint and manages to escape being twee by being sandwiched between the harbour beach which is left quite wild and covered in drift wood and the dramatic mountains behind.  From our house in one direction is the ocean - about 100m, and there is a path from our street up into the hills, about 25m away.

Our house - it will be painted shortly!

February Bach

We stayed in a little eco bach up the Kapiti Coast; it was a public holiday weekend and by the time we decided to go the beach side properties had gone.  Fortunately (it transpired) as the one we chose nestled into the start of the Tararua hills, and was so peaceful and in a gorgeous setting.  They even provided breakfast - full of home made delights - bread, yoghurt, jams etc. Know how to make me happy!

Folly did not know what to make of the pigs and spent most of the time staring at them from the bach window in utter fascination!

A stunning day in March in our new house in Eastbourne.  The hills are meters behind our house with paths boasting views across the harbour like this.
