Kapiti Coast

After a wet and cold Saturday, the forecast promised a beautiful summer's day for Sunday. We rose early as ever, cooked some left over sausages and hurried together a picnic, before jumping in the car and heading up the coast. Peka Peka beach was as deserted and wild as usual with only a few dog walkers and horses. With a 300m stretch to ourselves, a decomposing shark and the remains of a spiky puffer fish, we dug holes and ran amok. An exuberant Folly chased seagulls and skipped in and out of the water. Arthur braved the cold to jump in the shallows and encourage Folly to dig holes, that quickly filled with water for him to splash in. After a sandy picnic we did a few final laps of the beach and headed home. Boys and dog asleep within minutes!
