Easter

Easter weekend starts with clear blue skies and a desire to see the countryside. Twenty minutes drive from Eastbourne is the National park that begins in Wainuiomata. Most of the time we head to the more salubrious catch pool valley, isolated and distant enough from urban areas to feel truely remote, but today we headed to a park just outside of Wainuiomata.  A very easy track, gently sloping through the hills, beautiful but unchallenging and enough varying trees and landscapes to be interesting. Equally fascinating for little people with bridges, waterfalls and utterly dilapidated old stone houses, barely still scratching the earth's surface, to let the imagination roam wild in.

The only thing that doesn't make it perfect is the sleeping hidden kiwis that dictate Folly's freedom is restricted but knowing her lack of interest we ignore the signs to keep her on the lead and let her sniff freely.

Returning home the sun is still shining and Charlie uses his new found crawling skills to explore the garden and gravitate toward the swing.  He stands up and stares at me wiggling it expectantly.  Half an hour of swinging back and forward ensues.
